FITNESS

FORTIFY

Strength and Conditioning  

12+ (Intermediate)

 

Description: An intelligently designed mind-body experience for male dancers.

 

Objective: Increase power and mobility with both the small and large muscles groups important to achieving peak performance specific to male dancers.   Set to music, this class starts with a sensory-meditative approach to connecting with the breath and the cells in the body and softly transitions to a Vinyasa Yoga inspired flow. Punctuating the Vinyasa poses are specialized exercises targeting the deep or superficial muscles important to male dancers. Each exercise is intentional, chosen on purpose to enhance the muscles and tendons male dancers need to increase power and balance. Cue’s and corrections are continuous and are purposefully crafted to apply to dance skills. Class is set to music, flows seamlessly and ends as it begins with a sensory-meditative cool down meant to improve the relationship each attendee has with their inner selves and  the cells that make up their bodies. 

SHRED

Body Sculpting and Conditioning

12+ (intermediate)

Description: A high intensity workout for male dancers.

 

Objective: Get muscles to high performance and physiques noticeably cut. Set to music, class takers are centered, warmed up, and taken through 2+ rounds of full body conditioning exercises meant to push endurance, create sharp muscle definition and occasionally break down muscle for later gains. This is a no nonsense class that delivers almost immediate results. Though it is meant to work the more superficial muscles (the ones right under the skin, the ones you can see), it is built on the foundation of what male ballet dancers need to perform better. If you want to partner someday ... this is your class.  Classes include anatomical vocabulary, precision postural corrections.

BUILD

Muscle Building

 

Description: A targeted muscle development workout

 

Objective: Increase muscle size and performance power.  Class is built to build. Not a free flowing class, this work is meant to single out muscle groups and work them until breakdown begins allowing protein, water, and growth hormones to rebuild. Classes include anatomical vocabulary, precision postural corrections. This class is meant for males during or post puberty.

INTRO TO STRENGTH

Description: A fun but no-nonsense conditioning class for young male dancers.

 

Objective: Increase muscular power and endurance, and understanding of the placement and function of muscle groups important to male dancers.  Class is designed to challenge young dancers with both basic and complex exercises. Props available in the home, along with visual illustrations from the instructor, are used to maximize the efficacy of the exercises or the understanding of the mechanics or anatomy. The boys are pushed hard but not to the point of muscle break down.

Each class, exercise, routine, correction and cue is purposefully chosen and articulated to enhance the balance, power and endurance of muscles needed to be a better male dancer. This class is also formulated to tackle common corrections male dancers get during their dance practice.  Classes include anatomical vocabulary, precision postural corrections. 

 
 
 
 
 

BOYS BALLET

8yrs-11yrs  (beg / adv beg)

 

Description: Male focused ballet class with full barre, center work and attention to correcting jumps and turns.

 

Objective: Dominate the foundational skills and Increase knowledge of the vocabulary, sequencing and techniques of ballet. Our all male ballet classes provide boys the experience to practice the strength, precision and discipline of ballet - together. Our ballet educators are highly trained, provide real time corrections and deliver unique insight into the ballet practice that specifically applies to boys.

 

Props: Ballet Barre, or something sturdy works a as substitute. i.e: chair, countertop, etc.

MENS BALLET

12+ (intermediate)

 

Description: High energy all male ballet class with full barre, center, and mens specific choreography / skill practice.

 

Objective: Level up on skills, technique, power and performance in ballet specific to traditional male ballet roles.  Our all male ballet classes provide guys the experience to practice the strength, precision and discipline of ballet - together. Our ballet educators are highly trained, provide real time corrections and deliver unique insight into the ballet practice that specifically applies to male dancers. THEATER / COMMERCIAL JAZZ

Description: An entertaining jazz class that vacillates between the theatrical and commercial styles.

 

Objective: Learn how to exude confidence and personality while building strong classical jazz technique as well as performance skills through theatrical and commercial choreography. 

CODA

12+ (Intermediate)

 

Description: A specialty course to accelerate progress in the most common / difficult tricks expected of male dancers.

 

Objective: Introduce, correct and perfect skills and steps commonly found in Coda’s of pas de deux performed in ballet.  The first half of class contains carefully selected drills and exercises coached to attendees in order to improve the mental understanding and physical conditioning needed to execute common and complicated male ballet tricks. The last half of class contains specialty instruction most commonly found in private training will enhance what is already a uniquely formatted class.  

 

3 Week concentration (September 12, 19, 26): Drills / Breakdown / Practice of: Landing tours / double toures ///  saut de basques /// assemble entreprenad /// switch leaps /// entrechasix /// and other complicated male tricks and jumps, and potential introduction to working towards a 540.   3 Week concentration (October 3, 10, 17): Drills / Breakdown / Practice of: En dedan, en dehors, a la seconds, attitudes, arabesque turns.

BALLET ACCELERATOR

8-11 (Beg / Adv Beg)

 

Description: A skill and common correction class meant to accelerate progress in the most essential ballet skills.

 

Objective: Increase the efficiency of skill progressions. This class goes through exercises and drills that directly address common corrections made in Ballet class. Class is smartly designed to get to the nitty gritty of skills and concepts most male dancers struggle with at an early age. A phenomenal way to expedite mastering the most important parts of ballet practice for boys. 

INTRO TO FLOORBARRE

Description: A stretch and ballet technique class that focuses on detailed exercises mostly done on the floor.  

 

Objective: Learn how to lengthen out of your joints, expand range of motion, and strengthen muscles that enhance your ballet technique.   This class is a sensational opportunity to zero in on the things teachers are always asking you to work on and  will help make the execution of your dance practice so much easier. You hear all the time “that dancer has such great facility” meaning, they make it look effortless. This class will help you achieve more of that “facility” by increasing your bodies ability to maneuver in the ways dance requires a male dancer.  

 

***NOTE: Floorbarre exercises require you to sometimes slide arms/legs/feet on the floor.  Yoga mats and other sticky surfaces sometimes get in the way.  Form fitting clothing and long socks are recommended :)  

 

Props: -Foam roller / Yoga Block / or something similar that can be propped behind your back while sitting on the floor -piece of paper or card -A rope or something like a rope that is long enough to fold in half, wrap around the ankle and hold in your hands while lying down (can be a jump rope, robe belts tied together,... something NOT stretchy)

FLOORBARRE

Muscle Building

STRETCH ACCELERATOR

Description:  A mixed modality flexibility and balance class for boys.

 

Objective: Comfortably and responsibly increase range, length and motion to large and small muscle groups important to (and often ignored by) male dancers   This class is designed to get male dancers to understand how their body creates movement through flexibility and balance training. The drills and coaching  in this class accelerate progress in some acrobatic and dance essentials. Some anatomy and biomechanics language will be used to deepen the imagery and understanding of the muscles. 

PRECISION STRETCH

12+ (Intermediate)

 

Description: An intelligent, detailed, flexibility class with an anatomical approach

 

Objective: Increase length, mobility and balance while deepening the understanding of the anatomy and mechanics involved in the dance practice.   This class is a secret weapon for male dancers. Those who take it regularly find greater facility in their dance practice. The creative movements, deep stretching, and detailed cue’s get to the granular level helping to execute movement with ease. Attendees get the opportunity to create a strong relationship with the deep muscles in the body necessary to achieve greatness from the most fundamental to the most complex skills a male dancer needs.

Muscle release and recovery

 

Description: A restorative flexibility class for male dancers.

 

Objective: To bring muscles and joints back to their most elastic and comfortable state.  This class is designed to give male dancers an opportunity to heal and restore the body. Carefully chosen and executed movements, stretches, and poses are used to unlock tight, overused, and at times uncooperative muscles, joints and tendons.
